Prayers for the Journey

To Our Family & Friends -

One week from now, we will be holding Vivi in our arms.

Monday, December 2, is our Gotcha Day, that day that everyone in the adoption process dreams of and longs for. It's the day when we will finally get our girl.

As we prepare and pack and repack and make lists and repack and get ready to depart on a life-changing trip, we are asking for prayer.  If you believe in the power of prayer and don't mind including the Black family on your prayer lists, we would love it.  We know the power of prayer, and we know that we will feel it, even 7000 miles away.

Please pray for Vivi. We know that this transition is going to be hard on her.  She had a foster family that clearly adored her, and who we assume that she adored in return.  She will now have to get to know us and trust us and, slowly, to love us. Pray that the transition is smooth, and that Vivi begins to bond with us quickly.

Please pray for Tim and me. Going halfway around the world isn't easy.  Going halfway around the world and bringing home a whole new human being is even more challenging.  Please pray for safe travels, and for strength and rest and peace as we prepare to welcome our third child, and pray for our hearts not to hurt too much as we miss our boys back home.

Please pray for Micah and Liam. They have wonderful grandparents who will be loving on them and taking care of them while we're gone, but we also know that their lives will never be the same after we get on the plane to leave.  Please pray for smooth transitions for them, that they will learn to love their sister.

Please pray for the grandparents.  Switching back into daily childcare mode when you've been out of it (with the ages of our boys) for 30 years is a challenging situation at best, and can be very difficult.  Please pray for patience and for guidance and discernment, and for good behavior in the boys.

Please pray for orphans all over the world.  Once you enter the world of adoption, you cannot help but be continuously conscious of the staggering number of children in our country and around the world who do not have a home. On Monday, December 2, that number will be one less.  Please pray for the children who wait for someone to love them.

We are emotionally ready to go and we will soon be physically ready to go.  It seems like this trip has taken forever to get here, and at the same time it has come up so suddenly.  We know that we could not be doing this without your love and without our faith.  Thank you for your part in this journey, and keep following as number of orphans decreases and our family increases.

Love,
Kelly and Tim

Vivi is packed and ready to go.  At least that makes one of us...
