Miracles Are Happening

Dear Vivi -

It's been a while since I wrote to you on here. It's so easy to keep everyone updated on your life using Facebook or our family blog. But you've had a couple of big steps in the last few weeks and I thought it was time to document it here.

First, you got yourself some beautiful glasses.  You are farsighted and wore glasses in China, but we were given them in a bag and no one mentioned you wearing them so  we didn't put them on you. We had your eyes checked out by an eye doctor in Tampa, and he said that you were fine. Lately, we've noticed your one eye going in just a little bit an wanted to have it checked out. No serious problems, but the glasses will both help you see and keep you from having a more serious issue in the future.

Oh my goodness. Could you be any cuter??? We celebrated new glasses with ice cream. Any excuse for ice cream!

You were pretty excited, although I'm not sure if it was more about the glasses or the rainbow sprinkles.
Finally got a legit smile on camera, but then you did what you normally do when you smile big - you closed your eyes!!
And then today, a trike ride. Your PT introduced us to this style bike that has you sitting a little lower and further back, which allows you to use more of your hips and upper legs, not your ankles since they're not flexible in the braces. You loved it. Just loved it. There really are no words for how much you loved it, and I know that part of that love was the freedom that it gave. You can almost keep up with your brothers now!  You took off in your PT session so much that the therapist let us borrow the trike for a week to ride it at home.
Here you are riding. Daddy, if you're listening to the audio, she just tapped the bumper once. That's what she's talking about. No damage. :)
When we got you, we weren't sure if you'd ever walk independently. Now I can't keep up. If anyone doesn't believe in miracles, they haven't met you.
Love,
Mommy
