To Our Daughter,

Wow, are you loved.

We spread the news about your impending arrival and our journey to you on Facebook, and the response was overwhelming.  Way beyond any expectation we had.  People are already so supportive, and they are already praying for you and for our family.  No one knows you and yet so many are already praying you home.  How miraculous and powerful that is to comprehend.

It would be impossible to take this journey without the support of others.  Perhaps the first lesson we will be priviledged to teach you will be about community, and how you will have been prayed and loved into our lives by so many different people from around the country. Some of those people may never even meet you, and yet through prayer they are a part of your story, and our story.

It was, ironically, a Chinese philosopher who once said, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

In our case, the journey is somewhere in the neighborhood of 7972 miles, but it's the same start.  One step.  We've taken that step with the submission of our application, the first piece of paperwork that will get us to you.

There are a lot more steps to get us to the Henan province in China.  We know that it will sometimes feel less like 7972 miles and more like a million miles that separate us from you. But we trust if we remain faithful, God will honor each small step we take and keep us on the path that leads to you.
